All is well at Highlandfest. It's so much fun seeing all of the kids and families having fun in the summer! Several of my neighbors tents were blown away last night, but I survived...untouched. Come and see me today- new painting added daily.

July 7, 2010

I'm so happy our beautiful weather is back and have been very inspired to paint summer scenes......birds in trees........I really like them. Hope to see you at St. Kate's this Sunday, July 11, 2010. It's my first time there and I'm really looking forward to it, as it's been too long between shows. I've also been painting 6 x 6 tiles, which has been a lot of fun.Just watered the garden and now I'm off to a hair appointment and rhubarb picking! Have a wonderful day!

June 27, 2010

Edina Art Fair was sure fun- except for the one rainy day....it has rained every year there for at least the last five I hear. I'm really looking forward to the 2 July shows:

St Kate's- July 11
Highland Art Fair- July 16, 17 & 18

New painted 6 x 6 tiles (and smaller) will be available. Have many new paintings, just don't have them on site yet. Computer crashed......

May 19, 2010

Printing postcards for Edina Art Fair today.....if you do not receive one, you can email me your address for future mailing, or just always check my website for show dates. The date is JUNE 4, 5 and 6th!!

I have also begun to rebuild my Gallery 2 page and have posted 7 new paintings today-----looking kind of Swedish to me....which I love...

May 17, 2010

Well, first of all, we couldn't have hoped for more B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L weather.....the sort of where there just seems there can be no wrong in the world today!

Thanks to all who visited and purchased, despite my being off the "beaten track". We had a wonderful time sitting out in the sun and visiting with neighbors, family, friends and art buyers, and just didn't want it to end.......who knows, I might just pitch the tent another time during the summer......

I will be offering smaller 8 x 8 ($16.00)and 10 x 10($25.00) paintings this summer, in addition to 8 x 10 prints of my logo (to the left) which folks tend to love.

Enjoy Spring/Summer and hope to see you again.....oh and sorry about my GALLERY section...... I will be adding new work soon......

May 14, 2010

Well, today it the big day. First summer show, Art-A-Whirl. NE 29th and St. Anthony Parkway. Beer and wine tonight. I'm pleased with my new work and hope you will be too. Hope to see you there! Next show....Edina Art Fair, June 4, 5 and 6th.
May 6, 2010

It is with great jubilation, I announce, "MY SISTER IS CANCER FREE!!!!!!" No more Stage III Breast Cancer and only a 10% chance of recurrence. We are elated, to say the least. It's especially frightening to think about the possibility of losing a one and only, much beloved sister......... so now I can think about ART-A-WHIRL. I am so excited to be doing it near my home at 29th and Arthur/St. Anthony Blvd, so I hope you can stop by. It's Friday, May 14 from 5 to 8. Saturday 10 to 6 and Sunday noon to 5. Look for the BIG WHITE TENT!
I will also be in Edina Art Fair, Art at St. Kate's, Loring Park and Highland Park this summer.

April 22, 2010

Happy Earth Day! Yesterday I donated several paintings to Mary's Place, a shelter for women and children. When exiting the shelter, after finding housing again, families will be given a painting for their new abode.

My one and only sister had her breast cancer surgery today, so I'm heading out to Carolina soon. Hopefully results will be good.

Hope to see you at Art-A-Whirl this year, 29th St. Anthony Parkway in big white tent.

April 12, 2010

Coming soon.....new "Gallery" section.

March 28, 2010

Getting ready for Summer shows, painting with more detail and layering paint, which I'm happy about. Weather is sure an inspiration, although not quite warm enuf to paint outside yet...... Paul finished up his neighborhood maple sugar tapping- got about 5 quarts, Do you know how much sap it takes to get 5 quarts??????? Alot. About 25 gallons. He boiled it all down outside on the grill and used about 2 tanks of propane. Now I'd say that's some expensive syrup there! Very fun.....enjoy the sun!

March 15, 2010

Going to be in Dunn Brothers Loring Park Gallery mid-April to mid-June. For Art-A- Whirl I'm going to do a tent in my NE Minneapolis neighborhood this year rather than have or rent space in the Northrup King Building.

Painting a lot of tulips for Spring. It's so cute when my husband comes home with his left over bag of peanuts after a sports event.....

March 2, 2010

What a day! 43+ degrees on March 2......coming out of hibernation, and starting to paint tulips and buds. Am currently in Corazon and Dabble gift shops, and will also be in Loring Park Dunn Brothers Gallery soon. Have been applying to my favorite shows and hope to add a few to my summer calendar soon. Today I'm thinking I'd love to open a "folk art" gallery in Minneapolis, but it's just a whim. My daughter's energy inspires me, as she is soon opening her 4th clothing boutique. So looking forward to being outside in the sun.....could be awhile yet....call me for art- 763-228-2759.

January 22, 2010

Well......winter is looking pretty bleak...if I do say so myself. Oh Spring, when will you come back to me....???? Staying occupied viewing live web cam at bear.org, waiting for Lily the black bear up in Ely to give birth-anytime now. Going to John Bearegrease Sled Dog Race next weekend. Mush! Painting......applying to shows.....

January 11, 2010

Happiest of a New Year to you and yours! I've been too cold to write anything during the last couple of weeks, but now we're in a warm spell.... did hang paintings at the Egg and I. I really like that place....the low-cal Veggie omelet is delicious and I usually take half home. A local potter, Sue Christensen's work is also on display there. Her work is really nice, I actually love it and have purchased my second piece. Very original and unique.......hand pressed pieces...very colorful. Working on a large (36 x 48) yellow tulip painting which lifts my spirits and keeps me imagining Spring! Do come quickly, Spring!

December 22, 2009

Winter Solstice over....now let's get to Spring....cancer free for my little sis..... Happiest of Holidays to all. Peace- Joy and Love be with and around you.....

If you have a meal at the Egg and I at Hwy 280 and University Avenue in January, you'll see my paintings on the newly painted walls. Let me know what you think. Should be fun. I'll be working on my 2010 schedule during January.

Visited the Baltimore Museum of Art while out East. Was inspired by a Matisse exhibit. Two sisters (Cone Sisters) travelled to Europe regularly and collected art in the first half or so of the 20th Century. Left it all to BMA.

December 6, 2009

Well, I will not be participating in the Women's Art Festival this year, as I am with my sister in North Carolina, who was just diagnosed with Stage III breast cancer. She discovered a lump on October 31st.I may be here for while, so will be taking a break from painting. Learning alot about cancer, check your breasts friend....all over.....watch the alchohol and fat consumption.....estrogen creating..... may you all be safe from all harm.......

November 17, 2009

SPRING IS BACK! My neighbor has delighful yellow crocus blooming on the boulevard! If you live NE, or anywhere really, you've got to try Anchor Fish and Chips, the new British/Irish Pub on 13th Avenue. Wow! Really good..... they are located in the old Gallery 13, next to Lucille's Flowers across from the Old St. Cyril's Catholic School. Delicious........with hard cider vinegar.

Neighbor gave me several kitchen cabinet wooden doors recently. I started to experiment with paint application and liked it so much, it became my NEMAA (not for sale) Fall Fine Art show submission. I really enjoy how the acrylic paint flows on oil based wood.

Midtown Women's Art Festival is coming up on December 12th. Looking forward to it and will be getting in gear for next year's shows......hope to do more in fall in 2010- as they are popping up all over.

November 1, 2009

Ok-ok enuf of PEARS! Gotta paint birds this week. Now that show season is winding down, I can concentrate on more elaborate styles...hopefully.

Hope all had a fun Halloween. Our neighborhood was so quiet, we went out for fish and chips and an Irish beer- yumm- delicious!!!! New 13th Avenue NE joint in the old Gallery 13 space.

October 20, 2009

Well.... trying to be excited about Fall.....I...I...I....just need more sun.

As you can see, I've now sorted my paintings into appropriate categories and have a drop down menu....birds, flowers, ect. Think I'm going to be painting birds over the next month or so....

October 11, 2009

Humm......can you believe this weather....my fear is that summer or any sun warmth may really be gone- did you happen to see the Harvest Moon last week- wow was it bright! Still hope to get back to Viroqua area to see the Amish corn stalks and hay piles....... what beauty!

Anyone like pears? As you can see, I'm sort of on a pear binge, have always admired their shape and color (and taste) and am attempting to capture it on canvas in my folksy way. I've been so busy with fall nesting activity, I haven't been in the studio for the last several days, but feel an urge coming on, since I have completed painting my dining room. Clamshell is the color. Really nice and light to brighten up my windowless dining room.

Color! Color! Color! Yes! Yes! Yes! My spirits are lifted!

Happy, happy Fall to All!

Oh you should catch the Northwoods Boutique if you can- I think it's really grand, if you like folk/craft/rustic kind of stuff. I'm one of just a few painters involved and it's been a good fit for my work.

October 2, 2009

Who can believe this weather?! Oh well.....Minnesota right? We've been dealing with some heartache this week. My daughter's beloved canine companion, Aiya, had to take flight to dog life beyond the stars last week. She had bone cancer, which was quite aggressive. Sacha called her "My Sweetie". She brought us 6 years of joy and laughter. Whoops, have to grab a hankie......

September 22, 2009

Oh My! Yes, all of my paintings on this site (and the shows) are originals, not prints. Many can't believe they are, as the prices are so reasonable. Original- original! I'm thinking about doing some prints for shows tho, and have had a few prints of one favorite paintings available in the past.

As you can see, I just added 19 new paintings to the gallery page. I think I'm going to add categories to the gallery, to make it easier to view.....children, flowers, ect. Into pears these days- a change for fall......

September 20, 2009

Thanks to all of you who purchase my art. I hope you are enjoying it as it brings life and joy to your homes. Enjoy the magnificent colors of fall, as the earth settles into it's long winter sleep.

Well, gotta get ready for the Afton show.....hope it's sunny.....

September 14, 2008

So great to see you in Edina for the Fall Into the Arts Show this weekend. The weather was beautiful, unlike 2008, when I donned a winter coat and survived the rain, and went home early not feeling so well.

I can hardly believe Fall is almost upon us! Oh well, farewell Summer and fresh garden flowers, tomatoes, beets, Swiss chard, ect. See you again next year. Although, I am always saddened by the end of summer, I love the transition thru all of the seasons- it's always so invigorating---don't you agree.....

hence.....I am moving from my summer into fall colors......stop by my studio anytime....just give me call.....763-228-2759

Also, I will be at Afton in the Park on September 26 & 27.

August 24, 2009

Will be at 415 N. First Street, for NorthLoop days from 3 to 9 p.m. Should be fun, if it doesn't rain.

I've added six more paintings to this site, as I'm painting up a storm for upcoming shows....see Upcoming Shows....

Enjoying the last moments of summer, and compelled to keep painting botanical......

August 19, 2009

I've added 10 new paintings to the Gallery page. You can click on the photo to enlarge it. Photos aren't that great, but they give a pretty good idea. Thinkin about doing an August 28 evening block party down in the North Loop in the 1st Avenue area just on the northwest side of the river near Father Hennepin bridge. Waiting for info.....rainy today...but I'll take it. I'm painting up a storm!

August 16, 2009!

Can hardly believe it's mid-August- bout 5 more weeks of glorious summer. Our garden is bountiful- lots of Swiss chard, beans, tomatoes, squash and herbs. I've also been doing a weekly run to Tangletown Gardens for garden fresh produce at great prices. I think we're going to turn into vegetables, but we are blessed with such great summer treats. So if you stop by the studio, you're likely to go home with a bag.....

I'm in the process of adding new photos to this site, the quality isn't so great, so keep this in mind when viewing. I'm working on smaller canvasses for a change. Call or email me anytime, and you are alwasy welcome here! Enjoy the summer!

Just a reminder....my paintings do not need to be framed. They are "gallery wrapped" which means they are painted on the side and ready to hang.

August 9, 2009

Well.... Loring Park was great, Saturday was very hot, but today was really beautiful. Sold many paintings and am realizing the majority of the paintings I have listed on this site have sold. I'll be adding photos sometime this week, so keep checking for something you like and come to my studio in NE Minneapolis. My next show is the Edina Fall Into the Arts Show on September 12 & 13, but may also be doing one on August 28th, a one night affair.

It was so great to receive all of the positive comments regarding my work. Thank you. And for those who picked up my card....give me a call.......

August 6, 2009

Will be at Loring Park this weekend----booth #75. You can check out the website at loringartfest.com. Maybe I'll see you there..........pray it dosn't rain!!!!! I hate when the wind blows my tent! Nerve wracking!

August 3, 2009

Will the woman from the Tangletown Show, who has a new office in St. Louis Park call me? You wanted me to visit your office and select colors for a painting and I've lost your number. Thanks.

Tangletown Show was rainy off and on, which was a bit challenging, as we were in the open air, without a tent. The folks there are so nice.....

July 20, 2009
Home

Had a wonderful time at the Highland Art Fest this past weekend and am now preparing for The Tangletown Art and Garden Show next Saturday the 25th. I'll be in the garden at 54th and Nicollet with lots of paintings.

Attended Cirque du Soleil last night in St. Paul. The Capital and Cathedral sure look beautiful bathed in night lights. Now it's time for me to set up my tent, on Ford Pkwy. south of Cleveland Avenue for the Highland Art Fest. I'm in space #10 and will be saying my Hail Marys for sunny weather. Hope to see you there! Hours are:

Friday 2 - 8
Saturday 10 - 8
Sunday 11- 5

Check out Highland Fest 2009 for further info.

In the Garden in Minneapolis

Had to add "Let's Go Fish", after watching my pond koi. Love doing silly paintings.

July 8, 2009
Home in Minneapolis

Ok-Ok- I've been having too much fun and enjoying the immensely beautiful weather. Thank you Minnesota! Can you believe a black bear peered right into our Ely family cabin window last week- since the bird feeders were empty of the usual sun flower seeds, he thought he'd look inside for some.

Back to painting.....

I am preparing for the Highland Park weekend, and really hoping for great weather, unlike Edina. Trying to make some improvements in my tent display......never seem to be satisfied with the display, but getting there.

I have added five new paintings to this site, they appear as the first five in the SHOP category. Just can't move away from teal and pinks, cuz so many of you are drawn to them, as am I obviously!

Don't forget I have a home studio and you are welcome anytime. Izzy and Chloe will greet you when I'm in the studio.

Hope you are enjoying the summer and making memories....

Your painter friend, Anita

June 30, 2009
Home in Minneapolis

My office and studio are a mess! Kind of not interested in creating for a few days. Had a wonderful weekend- Alley Cat Coffee Club in the morning in our garage with about 30 neighbors in attendence, lunch with my husband's brother and girlfriend, and to the harness races in the evening (it was fun to do something so different)- what beautiful weather, eh? We saw a full rainbow in the eveing at the races, but it didn't help with our luck or pot of gold!

Today preparing for Highland Art Fest, which should be nice, as I don't get over to ole St. Paul much.

Shocked and saddened by the death of Michael Jackson..... he brought a lot of love to our world, I do think...... Love, Anita

June 11, 2009
Home in Minneapolis

Several of my paintings are available for sale at the Finnish Bistro/Dunn Brothers in St. Anthony Park (just next to Bibilo) and Kramarczuk's on East Hennepin in beautiful NE Minneapolis. If you get to either of these establishments, be sure to check them out. Many of these are not yet on this site.

We are preparing for our foster son's (Long)graduation party today. Tomorrow he becomes and Eagle Scout, we're sure proud of him. His sister, a Senior at Brown University, is visiting. She became my "Little Sister" (Big Brother- Big Sister), ten years ago, and has taken a year off from Brown, but will be returning for fall semester. It's good to have her here.

June 8, 2009
Edina Art Fair

Well...... Friday at the Edina Art Fair was unbelievably beautiful, it rained all day Saturday, and Sunday was ok, cloudy....... fun to meet so many new art lovers and excited a local hospital is interested in purchasing several paintings as they are so "cheerful".

May 18, 2009
Art-A-Whirl

It was great to meet so many new art lovers at the Minneapolis Art-A-Whirl on May 15th, 16th and 17th. Thanks to Mother Nature for the delighful weather. Thank you so much to all of you who purchased paintings, I hope they all fit well into your homes and you will enjoy them for years to come!

My next venture is the EDINA ART FAIR at 50th and France in south Minneapolis/Edina the weekend June 5th. My tent number is #415 and is on the southwest side of the corner, near the Edina Theater.

By the way, I am moving out of the gallery space at the Northrup King Building May 30, so if you can't make it to an upcoming show, be sure to visit my home studio in NE Minneapolis. Call me for address.

Well.......back to painting........enjoy Spring!
